A pleasant good-day Subscriber,
Cat Island escaped the brunt of Dorian’s fury as the storm passed well to the north. Miriam reports they’re getting tropical storm winds, 40 to 50 mph, with very little rain, and the sea is wild. They have maintained electricity and internet throughout – we are so very fortunate. The storm is now a category 5 with wind gusts to 220 mph as it batters the Abacos and heads for Grand Bahamas. Our concern for our neighboring, northern most islands continues as ZNS reported that about 90% of the inhabitants in the Abacos islands and cays did not evacuate after being advised to do so. This is the biggest storm to pass through the northern Bahamas in history.
Regards, James and Victoria Honeycutt, with thanks for Miriam’s update.
