Dear Subscriber,
Silver Airways, which had announced last Fall they would be offering flights between Fort Lauderdale and New Bight, Cat Island, postponed their service until May 1st. Their website can be checked here for more information.
Additionally, Western Air is now offering flights between Nassau and New Bight twice daily, Nassau to Cat Island- Departing 7am and 4:15pm and Cat Island to Nassau- Departing 7:50am and 5:05pm. Airfares are about $200 for same day round trip, perfect for a quick shopping trip to Nassau; and about $215 round trip on different days.
SkyBahamas is still flying daily between Nassau and New Bight, and their schedule can be viewed here. Their lowest round trip airfare is $233, and their flexible (no fees for changes) round trip airfare is $245.
There are still no regular commercial flights into or out of Arthur’s Town, though private aircraft are still using the airstrip there. There is no date for when the runway will be brought up to standards to support commercial aircraft.
Please check the airlines websites for any changes, as the schedules and fares are subject to change. Be sure to reconfirm your flights the day before your travel and always give the airlines a local number where you can be reached in case of changes.
Warm Regards, James Honeycutt
