Hi Subscriber,
Spending more time on Cat has allowed me the opportunity to serve on the Board of Cat Island United, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and prosperity of Cat Island. We’re hosting a reception on Friday, November 16th at the Ocean Dream Resort in Smith’s Bay from 7pm to 9pm with wine, soft drinks and amazing Hor D’oeuvres, and we’d like you to come and enjoy an evening with us!
Many of our neighbors know Cat Island United for the annual Earth Day event held for the past 6 years in April. And Cat Island United is committed to continuing this while supporting a number of other initiatives on the Island. We’ve started an aluminum can recycling program, with the first collection bin in operation at Mt. Alvernia Foods in Smith’s Bay and two more collection bins to be ready later this month. Earlier this year we provided a thousand reusable grocery bags to grocery stores on the island to reduce the number of single-use plastic bags that inevitably end up in our beautiful waters endangering the sea life. Cat Island United is dedicated to helping the youth of Cat Island become independent entrepreneurs, supporting small businesses in getting starting, promoting agricultural activities, increasing awareness of how to preserve marine habitats and preserving the rich heritage of Cat Island.
So, if you’ll be on Cat November 16th, please join us at Ocean Dream Beach Resort for evening of drinks, hor d’ouevers, good friends and opportunities to share the wonders of this amazing second home in the turquoise blue waters of the Bahamas so generations to come may enjoy its beauty forever.

Warm Regards, James Honeycutt, Cat Island United Secretary
