Notice from Cat Island Administrator and BEC Power Outage

Dear Subscriber,

BEC will be performing maintenance Tuesday and Wednesday (the 27th and 28th) from 9AM to 1PM with the power out during those times, so please plan accordingly.

I received a Notice today (link here) from our Cat Island Administrator, Mr. Neil Campbell, with whom I met afterwards to gain further clarification, regarding renting out personal vehicles. I was informed all rental cars must be licensed as “Self Driving” vehicles, which doesn’t mean the car drives itself, it refers to a person driving themselves in a rented car as opposed to a taxi or driving your own personal vehicle. You may have noticed rental cars have the letters “SD” as a prefix om the vehicle’s license plate. I was asked to forward the notice to all our homeowners to let you know that if you are renting your home, you may not include renting your personal vehicle. Only licensed Self-Driving Franchise Operators may rent cars and only cars licensed as Self-Driving with the “SD” plates are to be rented. I told Mr. Campbell I was not aware of any homeowners including their personal cars in the rentals of their homes. He asked me to also remind homeowners that are renting out their home on Cat Island that it needs to be registered as an “Owner Occupied Rental Home”, and you can find the information for this on our Pigeon Cay Property Owners website on the “Renting Your Home” webpage.
